8 Reasons to study with AITAS

AITAS might NOT be the one for you, if these things are your first priority:
-Low tuition (You get what you pay for!)
You might want to consider "AITAS" if you are looking for a school where:
-Your needs are satisfied
-You feel comfortable and enjoy studying Japanese
People who want to obtain conversation, reading and writing skills in parallel can benefit from AITAS more than those who want to just learn how to speak Japanese.
- 1. Japanese full immersion
At AITAS, no matter what level you are at, including absolute beginner, your teacher uses 100% Japanese language only in class. We use the AITAS Immersion Teaching Method which offers students easy-to-follow lessons and will help you improve practical Japanese communication skills. People who want to be exposed to Japanese as much as possible can benefit from AITAS more than those who want to learn the Japanese grammar in English. Are you wondering how your instructor teaches someone who has just started learning Japanese only in Japanese? Don’t worry! We offer trials before you actually join a class. It gives you a clear idea of our Direct Method.
- 2. A small group of students in each class
People who want to take interactive lessons can benefit from AITAS more than those who prefer to just listen to a lecture in a big class. The average number of students in each class is 5-8, and the maximum is 10. A teacher can tutor each student carefully in class. You can speak a lot more than in bigger classes.
- 3. Highly motivated students and classmates
Our students are hoping to live in Japan in the future, use Japanese skills at work or communicate with families and friends in Japanese. They are highly motivated and put a lot into their study. More importantly they encourage and learn from each other. Improving your skills by working and competing with others is a key factor in a learning process which is often neglected.
- 4. Native experienced teachers
Your instructor is a well-trained and experienced Japanese language professional, who is always thinking how he/she can keep you motivated.
All teachers at AITAS use the AITAS Immersion Teaching Method developed by Kyoko Saita using her language-teaching methodology and extensive experience. Using this method on the fundamental level of students is particularly challenging unless instructors have enough knowledge and experience. Good teaching skills and hard work are required to make the best use of this method.
At AITAS, veteran instructors teach Level 1-3 (Entry-Beginner).
- 5. Original study materials
Many commercial text books, such as "Minna No Nihongo, Genki and Japanese for Busy People", which try to cover varying purposes for studying Japanese, need to be supplemented or alternated with other materials to meet students' specific needs when they are used in classroom settings. At AITAS, courses are designed based on the study units used in "Minna No Nihongo" and we use our original study material, the AITAS Workbook, as a base. The Workbook has been carefully thought out to boost learners' motivation. It allows learners join their classes actively and gain confidence in their practical Japanese skills.
- 6. Writing a diary (recommended) and error correction by teachers
This unique way of encouraging students to use Japanese outside class became a special feature of the school. Practicing writing helps improve speaking skills because they are both categorized as Output exercises rather than Input. Therefore our lessons involve many writing exercises. A topic is sometimes given by a teacher based on what they studied in class. It is easier than you think as long as they write about what they are interested in and use the grammar and vocabulary they already know and want to practice. Students receive AITAS Students' Journal at the end of each term in which they can find their writing work and others. It has been a great way for students to get a sense of achievement.
- 7. Interesting activities
Japanese Conversation Club
If you are Level 2 or above, you can participate in Aitas Japanese Conversation Club.
This is a club where you can practice your Japanese by mingling with Japanese volunteers and immerse yourself into their culture. It happens once a month.
