History
AITAS Japanese Language School has been making progress everyday since its inception in 2003. It is a school where students have fun and can actually improve their Japanese skills at the same time. We have been improving our educational system to make it even more beneficial for students.
2003
- Koko Saita establishes AITAS Japanese Language school in Toronto, Canada
- AITAS offers beginners' classes for Canadian Adults
- An original textbook for beginners' level is developed
2004
- AITAS holds a workshop on the AITAS Immersion Teaching Method for Canadian English teachers
- AITAS starts a training program for Japanese people who want to be a Japanese teacher
- AITAS sends two students to the beginners' category at a Japanese speech contest in Ontario
- As a part of language study, AITAS starts Culture Class to introduce Japanese culture to learners
2005
- AITAS starts AITAS Japanese Conversation Club for international exchange
- AITAS Students' Journal is issued at the end of every term to share students' essays
- The first AITAS Newsletter is issued / The first email-newsletter is sent out
- AITAS sends four students to a Japanese speech contest in Ontario
- AITAS offers a prep course for JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test)
2006
- AITAS holds a workshop on AITAS Immersion Teaching Method for Canadian English teachers
- AITAS starts travel support services regarding Japan
- AITAS starts assistant services for study-abroad in Japan
2007
- AITAS was certified as an educational institution approved by HRSDC
- AITAS distributes to students a bound book, 9 Tips, containing the educational theory of AITM
- AITAS launched a members-only community website, Japanese Guide for Torontonians
- AITAS offers a correspondence course, Home Learning Program
- AITAS creates your name in Kanji according to the sound of your name
- The number of students in total counts more than 500
2008
- AITAS Japanese conversation club was broadcasted by Rogers TV
- The number of Japanese volunteers at the Conversation Club in total counts more than 300
- AITAS holds a workshop on AITAS Immersion Teaching Method for Canadian English teachers
- Some of AITAS students were invited to a social gathering by a research group of labor union of Toyota Motor Corporation.
2009
- Original workbooks for all levels are developed
- AITAS launched an intermediate course (Level 8) for AITAS members
- AITAS created "School Comic" to introduce a unique learning approach in class
2010
- The number of students in total counts more than 700
- AITAS starts Kanji class
- AITAS starts a make- up class system for students who were absent from a class
- AITAS launched social community websites, Facebook and Twitter
